Sustainable Development

A model for paper industry

Quo Vadis encourages a paper production model that follows these criterias:

To provide fibers of good quality for recycling, such as graphic/printing writing/office, the paper is made from virgin fibers. This has the advantage of reducing the need for chemical additives used to strengthen recycled paper.

Recycling of these types of paper in basic wrapping paper, cardboard or newsprint. The life cycle of these types of paper is fully compatible with the use of recycled fibers. This type of paper does not require the same high level of de-inking as the production of high gloss recycled paper used for graphic purposes.

Conclusion

The paper industry does not kill forests, but allows for better management, cleaning and maintenance:

  • 75% of the pulp comes from maintenance harvesting, which eliminates smaller trees to facilitate the growth of the stronger specimens. This selection also decreases the risk of forest fires.
  • The other 25% comes from sawmill waste.

Quo Vadis believes that sustainable development does not stop with protecting the environment, and that it also includes social development.

  • This policy is intended to maintain a high level of skills in all trades and to achieve involvement by all.
  • Arrangements have been made for providing a higher degree of comfort for employees at their workstations, such as adjustable tables for assembling the diaries.

Quo Vadis has not waited for the Tokyo Protocol to implement better resource and energy management and to start down the path of sustainable development.
